Horror Channel UK is bringing the biggest, boldest and bloodiest festival to your screens with it’s 7 favorites from FrightFest’s past during August including Mitchel’s creature feature “The Sand”. Fri 19 Aug @ 9 pm – THE SAND (2015)  UK TV Premiere

Interview with Mitchel Musso Star of the Sand

HC: Are you a big horror movie fan?

MM: I am a fan of horror films; I’d say my favourite would have to be classics like Scream and Nightmare On Elm Street.

HC: How did you become involved with The Sand?

MM: I was introduced to The Sand and really liked the script, so I read for the producer and director and we clicked.

HC: What did you think of the script when you first read it?

MM: When I first read the script my reaction was… Huh… Well… Okay…

HC: How would you describe your character, Mitch?

MM: Mitch is cool I guess, he’s kinda not the greatest guy which made it easier ripping him in half and swallowed him hole at the end of the movie. But he’s a rambunctious cat… I like that

HC: How do you prepare when acting in such a wild film and how tough is it acting in a movie so reliant on CGI?

MM: It’s really tough however it is our job to act/react create characters and sometimes get eaten by your occasional sand monster.

HC: Whats your favourite moment?

MM: My favourite moment is bonding with the cast.

HC: The Sand will get its UK TV premiere on the Horror Channel this month; are you nervous what fans of the genre will think of it?

MM: I am not nervous, I think you will either like it, love it, or take it for what it is. It’s not a film you should waste time hating on.

HC: Youve been acting for some time but this is your first horror movie, would you like to do more? (Id personally categorise Monster House as family horror as its such a wonderful love letter to classic movies, what about you?)

MM: I agree, I always felt Monster House was a family horror film as well, however this is a lot more gritty and dirty. So on that note let’s see what the fans think!

HC: If you did come into contact with a sand dwelling, flesh-eating beast, whats the first thing youd do?

MM: Probably die…

HC: So, what are you working on at the moment?

MM: I can’t say what I’m working on at the moment.

HC: Mitchel Musso, thank you very much.

MM: Thank you.

German Release for ‘The Sand’

Germany is next in Line. After the release in the UK and the USA german Horror fans will be able to buy Mitchel’s Horror Movie under the title “Killer Beach” in just a few weeks. It will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray starting June 2nd, 2016 in all the big markets as well as Amazon. You can already Pre-order it on AmazonSaturn and Weltbild .

‘Killer Beach’ – (German DVD Title)

Fun Fact: “The Sand”, directed by Isaac Gabaeff, was shot in only twelve days and Mitchel originally auditioned for the role of Jonah.

After an all-night graduation beach party, a group of hung-over twenty-somethings awake to a beating sun, and a seemingly carnivorous beach that devours anything with a heartbeat that touches the sand

German Translation:  Die College Abschluss-Party steht an.

The Hollywood News: Ultimate Halloween Movie Marathon guide

Have you been asking yourself what to watch on the big day tomorrow?

Well let us help… has compiled a handy guide to the ideal Halloween horror marathon and guess what….. not one but two of Mitchel’s Movies made the list and they couldn’t be more different. Great Choices!

Contemporary – Monster House

If you’d rather start your day off with a darker edge then Monster House is the film  for you. It’s aimed at kids but has some genuine scares and an uneasy sense of foreboding. No easy feat for any film, let alone an animated movie. Featuring the vocal talent of Steve Buscemi, Maggie GyllenhaalJason Lee and Kathleen Turner, the film almost bagged itself an Oscar, again an impressive accolade for a horror, but even more so given its pixelated roots. –

Three teens discover that their neighbor’s house is really a living, breathing, scary monster.

Contemporary – The Sand

Now for something completely different, The Sand. There are a few common threads between The Thing and The Sand and we don’t just mean the use of the word ‘the’ in their titles. Both feature an alien life form landing on Earth and causing all manner of maiming and mayhem. When picking between the two movies you really only need to ask yourself whether you want sunshine and sand, or darkness and snow. If your choice is sand then I think it’s pretty clear which option you should pick (there’s a hint in the title). The Sand follows a group of party goers who wake up to find that the ground underneath their feet suddenly has an appetite for long-pig. In case you need anymore encouragement to watch The Sand the writer Alex Greenfield promises a ‘scares for your sweetie to leap into your arms or for you to leap into theirs.’-

After an all-night graduation beach party, a group of hung-over twenty-somethings awake to a beating sun, and a seemingly carnivorous beach that devours anything with a heartbeat that touches the sand.

The Sand Movie : Passable evening’s entertainment

Pssst. The Sand Movie is out on multiple platforms. Go watch it, because flesh-eating monsters need love too…… or because of reasons mentioned below by more critics…either way go check it out!

The Sand : Passable evening’s entertainment

[…] once things progress it becomes clear that director Isaac Gabaeff and writers Alex Greenfield and Ben Powell are less interested in presenting a horrific critique on Spring Break culture than exploring a classic monster movie survivalist set-up. The results, while far from earth-shattering, are for the most part reasonably entertaining […]

[…] all things considered The Sand is a perfectly passable evening’s entertainment. It’s got some good gore, a cool monster, and lots of pretty people sitting around in swimwear, so you can’t really go too far wrong. Whether you’ll remember anything about it two days later or ever have any desire to revisit it is another matter.

-written by Ben via Brutal as Hell

The Sand : may just be one of those hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

[…] From the get-go The Sand does a lot right. It limits the number of people in the cast, restricts the location and creates a creature that is shielded in mystery. .[…]

[…] The Sand is a movie that knows exactly what it is, and that is a b-movie. If you are looking for a fun monster movie with an actual interesting creature, then this one is for you.[…]

Interview: Mitchel Talks ‘The Sand’ and more

Listen to a brand new Interview with Mitchel about his movie ‘The Sand’ coming out October 13th and more projects with @neontommy here! You can also read some highlights below!

On the Sand

It’s a Horror but it’s also a Comedy. I’m a big fan of horror but i also enjoy the comedy of course it’s a huge part of my carrer. i kinda started my career with a horror movie..i did Monster House a long long time ago and that was a huge movie with this huge budget and actors and incredible director Gil Kenan  […] This one was a little bit different i guess […] this was just on the beach. […] we don’t move, we don’t really move […] trying to avoid the one thing that’s surrounding us. […] We had a cool Cast […] and not just the cast but the crew too. We all got to know each other very well cause we didn’t really move anywhere [laughs].

On upcoming acting projects

Sins of our Youth […] we are not out yet we had a premiere. It’s a super dark movie about four boys, who accidentally kill a kid […] and we have to figure out what we are gonna do and how we are gonna get away. it’s a very dramatic film and there is a lot of crying and screaming and yelling […] it’s a dark movie. […]

On Music

The Sand Reviews : Watching attractive twenty-somethings die one by one

With the release of @TheSandMovie next week (October 13th) more and more reviews are coming up. This time MASS MOVEMENT and Jordan Hunt join in!

The Sand : It ain’t the water you should worry about…

Don’t ask me how a film about a killer beach works so well, especially when boasting CGI effects this bad, but it does! Primarily thanks to some skilful direction and editing and some spirited performances that make you actually care – a little bit, anyway! – about the characters.

[…] despite the obvious shortcomings of its budget, The Sand works remarkably well in a knock-off Tremors sorta way, and you can’t help but get in the swing of it when it’s been put together with such enthusiasm and verve.

-written by Martjn via MASS MOVEMENT

The Sand : A fun little horror flick

[…] Now, writers Alex Greenfield and Ben Powell have made the welcome decision to actually make the characters smart and think out their actions, a rarity in the horror genre.[…]

[…] It adds quite a bit of suspense and surprise to the proceedings, making trying to figure who dies next all the more complicated. […]

[…] The cast is lively and game, and director Isaac Gabaeff helps the film fly by with its quick pace […]

Overall, The Sand is a quick and fun little monster flick that wears its B-horror movie roots on its sleeve. So if watching attractive twenty-somethings die one by one, check it out on VOD and DVD October 13.

The Sand: Eye For Film Review

Here is another great review of Mitchel’s latest Film @TheSandMovie written by @EyeForFilm all leading up to the DVD Release on Ocotber 13th. With Halloween just around the corner you might need a new Horror film right? (Amazon Pre-Order).

The Sand

This is a film that gets right to the point. […]

[…] there’s something about these kids that marks them out from the usual monster fodder. It’s that they’re smart. Not geniuses, not amazingly educated, but average rational, thinking people who assess their situation in a sensible way and actually do the things that you, the viewer, think they ought to do, instead of just flapping their arms about and squealing uselessly as most characters do in such situations. This makes it a lot easier to care about them and it also gives the film a snappy pace that guarantees lots of monster action. […]

[…] It takes skill to make a cheesy creature feature well. The Sand is much smarter that it looks on the surface. Give it time and it will pull you in.[..] – written by Jennie Kermode via Eye for Film (@EyeForFilm)

The Sand: Review by Buck Teorem

Thank you to @BuckTheorem for taking the time to write a review of ‘The Sand’!

FrightFest 2015 Day 2 : The Sand

[…] the films I have seen on the alternative screens have all been lacklustre in previous years, “The Sand” being second best and “Willow Creek” coming out top […]

[…] had enough fun and humour and situations to make this a fun if undemanding experience. – by Buck Theorem

Remember to pick up a copy of #TheSand on Amazon coming out October 13th in the USA/Canada and October 19th in the UK! You can already Pre-Order it on! More european release dates will follow soon.

If you have seen it already head over to IMDb and give it a rating. Let’s spread the word.
